What to do When You Find Someone Close to You is a Liar

Thursday, November 19th, 2009

This is a post that I started writing 6 months back but never completed it, now I think this is complete. This will be a good post and a learning experience.

People lying excessively are normally called pathological liars, they can lie for any silly reason. What pathological liar means exactly, those who lie for no big reasons, lie spontaneously with big confidence and promise are known as pathological liars. There is no test designed to find such disorderness but if someone spends more time with the person can find that sooner or later. Now many questions come to mind, why it happens, how it happens, is there a medicine, how to find who is a pathological liar, how to stop chronic lying, etc.

Why One Lies Severely?

Many reasons are there to this question. One out of 100 of these cases a person might not be knowing that he/she is lying because of insomnia, anyone can have memory loss disease and bluntly lie because he/she don’t remember the past. Sometimes a person loves to live in the fantasy world and keeps on lying to make himself/herself happy. He/She gets addicted to lies and never feel like coming out. It is a kind of multiple personality and a mental disorderness that he/she never realizes. Few people are there who always lie to see others expression by coming up with such words so they do it without thinking that it is not an acceptable behavior. Some start lying fearing the front person and keep saying it until they find no other way out than coming up with the truth.

What You Can Do to Help The Person

  • Let the person know that he/she is lying for no good reason, don’t worry for the consequences because you are truly trying to help someone.
  • If a person knows about his activity then encourage him for facing the truth. There is a famous saying “If you have made mistakes, there is always another chance for you. You may have a fresh start any moment you choose, for this thing we call ‘failure’ is not the falling down, but the staying down.” - Mary Pickford
  • Chat with the person and try to open up with him/her so that you get to know the reasons. Remember every problem in this world has a solution somewhere it is just a task for us to find it.
  • If nothing works then give some time. Sometimes time solves a lot of things that are not solved for years.
  • If nothing works then don’t get tired or give up because I am talking about your near and dear to whom you love a lot. Try your best I bet there is a way that you can find to solve the problem.
  • How Much One Can Do in a Year of Time

    Monday, August 24th, 2009

Do you define it? Have you ever thought what is doable in a year? There is no definition, people are there who almost don’t do anything and there are people who become world famous in 365 days only. Why am I writing this? Every year on August 24th I wish my friend on his birthday and write here about thing that I say him many times.

Everyone in this world is not as smart as Bill Gates, Warren Buffet or Sergey M. Brin who knows what they have to do in next 5 years. At least I can say at some point they even didn’t know what they will be doing in following 5 years, it is something they grew over the time. But they all must be scheduling their work ahead of time, if you start scheduling your work for a day then you will make it for a month. This is how you will start managing your time well and make some proper utilization of it.

How to Start Spending Your Time in a Constructive Way?

    • List all the work/events/job that you need to get it done.
    • If you know nothing then start creating work for yourself.
    • Give an end date when you want to see them get completed, schedule a date that is more likely not possible to meet.
    • Make some phases, divide the work into several parts.
    • Start with the Part 1 and proceed to the end.

Remember no work is SMALL and no work is BIG, all are relative. If you need to do something then start it because nothing will be done if you never start it.

    • My dear parents listen me if you can, happiness and sorrows are picked by people so pick the best and live with it so that it will make my life go easy and help me in picking the better one.

    Subway Cash Receipts Fraud

    Sunday, March 8th, 2009

Do you ever realize how shopkeepers take your advantage when you trust them? This is a story of a subway restaurant whose cashier cheated me for last 4 transactions. I regularly visit to this subway restaurant so I became a known face to the cashier, later I stopped asking for the receipt as I knew the rate of my sub. Jignesh Patel/Bharat Patel took the advantage when he saw I am not asking for receipt and every time paying through credit card so he started charging me $7.35 instead of $5.58.

Business Card of Subway Owner Jignesh Patel, Bharat PatelI work for Gaebler Ventures LLC and my office is next to this subway restaurant from 615 W. Lake St, Chicago. I have seen this cashier handling the counter for last 3 years so I doubt if he is the one who owns the restaurant. I asked him for the business card and he handed me one which has two names Jignesh Patel and Bharat Patel on it so I don’t know what his name is. I love subway subs and chicken teriyaki is my favorite one. I normally visit to Jignesh Patel’s subway restaurant 2-3 times a month and I take a footlong chicken teriyaki sub with no drink and snacks. The rate of this sub is $5 and comes to $5.58 with tax. Every time I use my debit/credit card to buy the sub, the cashier noticed that over the time and started billing me more seeing that I am not asking for the receipt after the purchase.

I was going through my statements then I realized I have been billed for $7.35 from the same subway restaurant for 4 times in month of January and February. I decided to go and buy another one and crosscheck what he is billing for. That day he billed me $5.58 then I showed him my statements and asked why he billed me $7.35 for last 4 times. He said me “the combo comes with $7.35 so you might have taken the combo for last 4 times”. I was surprised to listen that from his mouth as he knows I don’t take the combo, I was expecting he will apologize and return my money. I left my statements and visiting card with him and asked him to get back to me. He said to get back in 2 days but he has not called me in last 10 days.

Later I wrote to SUBWAY from their “ASK US” page, here is the detail from our conversation.

    Hi,

This subway is near to my work place and I have gone for lunch for 4 times in month of January and February. The cashier Jignesh Patel kept charging me $7.35 for a foot long chicken teriyaki with no drinks and snacks for last 4 times. I visited the store again today and ask for the same one he just charged me $5.58 and this time I asked for the receipt that i was never asking him before. I am a familiar face to him as i visit them regularly, the guy knows that i don’t take the combo still he was charging me $7.35 every time. I left my credit card printouts with him to follow on. This is a serious cheating to customers; i want a follow up on this.

    Thanks

Theme of the story is never forget your duty even if you know or trust someone. Never forget to ask for a receipt when you buy something.

Web Design Blog Says: September 14th, 2009 at 8:56 am

Lesson: If you are using credit card to be charged for anywhere where credit card leaves your hands, always ask for receipt and file it somewhere and reconcile with your card statement when it comes (at which point you can discard the tiny receipts if the statement is correct).

When to Give Up on Few Things in Your Life

    Tuesday, February 3rd, 2009

“When to Give up” is more important than “When to Start”, I think “when to give up” is more important than “when to start”. You will often come with this question in your life, there isn’t a single day that you will live without this question, better you learn when to give up on things because this is more important than anything else.

I already lived 30 years in my life and I know I didn’t start many things on right time but that didn’t hamper me a lot as I am hampered when I didn’t end something on time. When to call for an off is the most important that I learned with my experience. I am very optimistic and modest but people take you as granted when you live with such temperament. Should you change yourself as you are taken in a wrong way? No, I will never go against modesty so I will live as I always lived. What I can do in return to face people who take me as granted and gets me tough time?

Eliminate, there is a process called filtration so use that to find things/object/people that gets you problem and keep them away. Let everything to come on your way, start at any time in your life but end it when things start deliberately bothering you. If you don’t learn how to call it off than the thing/object/person will destroy you so better be picky and keep your focus on who/what are not required in your life and keep them away.

This is what I am writing as I constantly got set backs from a person with whom I have a friendship of last 20 years. This is a time to call it off. I don’t require such people in my life.

Citi Bank’s Dirty Trick to Make Money

    Tuesday, January 20th, 2009

Citi Bank Review, Bad ExperienceI opened a free checking account with Citi Bank before a year from now, while opening I was said this is a free maintenance on $0 balance for 20 years. It is not a direct deposit account and I never paid my bills from this account as well. I never saw any kind of fees till 10 months. All of a sudden I saw some monthly service and check paid service charges coming in to my account. I called the customer care to get an update about those transactions, it happened in Oct’ 2008 and I was said it is a system error. Lady also promised me will never happen in future.

Later in December I went to India for 5 weeks. When I came back from the vacation then I saw more such charges in my account. Today I called the customer care to get an update on what’s happening, now these people are saying this is an account opened with different contract and was set with some period of waiver. What??? Are you guys crazy? I asked, if you can read the requirements. He replied you need to maintain $6000 balance or make a direct deposit to this account in order to have it free. I was surprised to know that, I said if it is the fact then how I was not getting any fees for 10 months, it started coming in from last 2-3 months only. He replied me account was having some kind of waiver on it and it expired already.

Tell me what I should say to this man? Whom should I believe the person who opened this account, the lady who said me it was a system error and will never happen in future or this man who is talking something nonsense. I have no clue, what I should do at this point of time. I am charged with 2 month service fees of $12.50 each and 5 check paid fees of $0.50 each. Why should I let it go? This is a tricky game in US and makes everyone suffer at least once in his/her tenure. I will surely visit to the banker who opened the account but I don’t know about the outcome.

    Why People Steal

    Wednesday, January 14th, 2009

Yesterday someone stole my wallet from the gym closet while I was working out. I figured this after my regular workout hours. I might be lucky for not losing everything with the wallet but I lost a lot with that.

This gym is near to my house in the south side of Chicago, I have been working out in the same gym for last 4 years and I never had such issues though I have some bad experiences from the neighborhood. Yesterday I went to gym around 5.30PM and came out of the weight room at 6.40PM, I found my wallet missing from my cabinet. I also had my ipod, watch, blackberry in the same closet but person stole it was in hurry I guess and forgot to check my backpack. Luckily I saved few things worth about $500.

I lost $30 and few of my credit and debit cards as well. All my cards are having insurance on top of it so I will be safe at that point. I lost my driving license along the state ID, they gonna cost me more $20. Overall I lost $50-$60 and my mental piece. I don’t know why that guy left my coin which I bought from Sani Mandir near to Siridi. Was he one Indian who could recognize that god, goddesses’ coin and left it for god fearing factor? Just guessing!!!

Never leave your personal belongings unlocked in public places. Lesson learned!!!

A Must Watch Video for Inspiration by Professor Randy Pausch - Last Lecture

    Wednesday, August 13th, 2008

This is not a review on Randy Pausch’s last lecture, honestly I don’t feel myself skilled enough to give a review on his speech. All that I can say if you need more motivation/inspiration in your life to prove something then watch this video, I swear he won’t waste your 1 hour 16 minutes 27 seconds. A Carnegie Mellon computer science dying professor teaches how to live your life. I wish I could give him 6 out of 5 stars as a rating for this video.

Here is another video on time management suggested by Rinku, I think this video is also worth watching for once at least. Let us know here what you think about these videos.

    Ways to Check Content Plagiarism

    Tuesday, August 12th, 2008

“Content is the King”, the most common phrase is in danger. Are you also suffering to keep your content away from being copied? Do you have issues in crosschecking the content you buy from writers? This is something I have seen many webmasters suffering from and something which I am always asked by my friends.

    Ways to Check Content Plagiarism

Here are some of the websites where you can check your content and make sure that you are safe & not plagiarized.

Paid Websites for Validating Content Copyrights
    1. copyscape.com - The website which I know that gives the best service for the money it charges and I also use them for validating my content. This site charges only 5 cents for one search. This search can be a webpage or 2000 word content. If you want to save your each penny then search once after merging your content from various articles that you want to post to your website and make sure that it is less than 2000 words in order to get the best result. I have seen this working fine down to 5 words only, this means if you have just 5 words common to any other indexed web pages on the internet then this is going to find that for you. They also have an API to make life simpler for you.

List of Free Sites that Checks for Content Plagiarism
    1. articlechecker.com - They don’t describe anything in details but i guess if the searched phrases are more than 1 then you are colliding some other website content.
    2. plagiarismdetect.com - Needs a signup, if you wish to check them out then let us know here how they perform.
    3. plagiarismchecker.com - free but I guess not the best one. This leads to google with the content in a search query and leaves to you for deciding if it is copied.
    4. www.google.ie/advanced_search?hl=en – The most trivial way of validating and this works the best as long as you can break your content and search in limited words.

More tips on Saving your Content from Digital Theft

You can always find an unique sentence from your web page and trigger the google alert. The day google finds the same sentence somewhere else is going to send you one email.

If you are using popular blogging software like Wordpress then use Maxpower’s Digital Fingerprint Plugin so that it will insert customized unique fingerprints to you posts and later you can set up one google alert for that.

    Passenger Bus Regulations

    Tuesday, July 15th, 2008

I doubt if we all follow the basics of passenger bus regulations. Here is a short story on how people don’t follow the rules and other suffers for it.

Passenger Bus RegulationsToday I was about to break my bones due to someone’s irresponsible move. I got on to my usual bus to office and couldn’t see anything clearly as it was very dark for me, this normally happens when you try to get into a lesser light area from a brighter place then you almost can’t see objects for a while. I was looking here and there to find a seat so that I can enjoy my ride to office but it was my bad, I couldn’t see someone kept his travel bag on the way. It came on my way and I was almost on my knees for that. The person even didn’t realize it was his fault and he shouldn’t have done that.

How to keep your belongings while traveling

    • Try to keep your luggage very small by packing only the necessary stuffs.
    • Try to check-in your bags whenever you get that opportunity.
    • If you carry-in then place it safely at your overhead shelf.
    • If you have a bigger bag and that doesn’t fit into the overhead rack then place it under the seat.
    • Still if that doesn’t get in there then there is a huge space behind the driver’s seat, you should try to fit it there or take the driver’s help to keep it in a safe place.
